A vision and a dream
When you visit the Bronx Zoo with your Fabric Wholesale NYC it is hard to imagine that before the 1880s, this area was privately owned estates. In the 1880s, the State of New York set aside land for future development of the park and soon after developed the New York Zoological Society to found the zoo. The zoo first opened its doors to the public on November 8, 1899 with 843 animals in 22 exhibits. Today that has grown to more than 4000 animals housed in a series of Beaux-Arts pavilions. Many of the animals that are housed here are endangered or threatened species.
Look toward the future

They have installed eco-friendly washrooms outside the Bronx River Gate. They have also recently agreed to allow a rare snow leopard cub found in northern Pakistan into its breeding program. The cub was found in northern Pakistan after a mudslide killed its mother. Since there are no captive breeding programs in Pakistan, it was decided that it would be brought to the Bronx Zoo and will later be returned to Pakistan.
